Arts Week
I must start this newsletter with a big thank you to Mrs Turner. She did a sterling job in organising such a super Arts Week for us. The children all enjoyed a wealth of experiences and have tried their hand at a broad spectrum of artistic and creative works. Thank you also to all those parents and members of the community who lent us such a wonderful array of African artefacts and to those mums who came in to help with the various activities during the week. Lots of the work is now up on display so please do pop in to see the children?s creations. Please also remember that we asked for £12 per family to go towards the cost of Arts Week, so if you are like me and haven?t paid yet please do drop in your cheque to the office. Thanks. Back to top
Easter Eggstravaganza
The PTFA have been busy behind the scenes getting ready for this super event. I hope by now all the children have finished decorating their cardboard Easter Egg for the competition ? Mr Tom Archer has the dubious honour of judging the entries this time! We are all waiting to find out who has won Mrs McLeod?s chocolate quiz. Orders should also be in for the Thornton Easter Eggs that the children are going to decorate on Thursday. Year 6 children are selling raffle tickets on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the beginning and end of the school day. Please do come along and support the school from 2.15 onwards. There is to be a cake stall, second hand uniform sale, and a second hand book sale. In addition, we will have on display the new school fleeces, sunhats and summer dresses which will be available for ordering through the school office for the new term. Back to top
Wristbands
We have recently been contacted by a company which produces wristbands with the school?s name and telephone number. We think they are rather good in terms of risk assessment when taking KS1 children on school trips and visits. They are however, quite expensive. Please let us know if you would have any objection to your child wearing one of these on a school outing ? a sample is in the school office. Back to top
Jewellery
We have noticed that recently that some children are coming to school wearing jewellery. It is school policy that jewellery should not be worn. Children who wear jewellery of any sort run the risk of getting it caught in friends? clothing when playing at break times, or getting it caught on the equipment in the adventure playground. The resultant injuries are too awful to think about so please ensure the children do not wear jewellery to school. Stud earring will need to be covered or removed in PE sessions. Back to top
Readathon
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Readathon and to those friends and family members who sponsored the children. The child who read the most books was Poppy Wood ? a super role model to all the younger children. So far £378.92 has been raised and money is still coming in! The final amount will be banked this week so please do get it in to Mrs Bigg in the office ASAP. Back to top
Registration
A little reminder that all children need to register in the library with Ruth in the morning. Ruth also makes a note of the children?s arrangements for getting home and can organise the correct number of lunches from Chudleigh School. If for any reason your child is not coming to school please can you make sure you ring us prior to 9am so we can account for all the children?s where abouts. Similarly, if your child is going to be late but will want a school lunch ring us before 9am and a meal can be ordered. Back to top
