22nd May
Well, what a busy term so far! Before we finish for the Half Term holiday at the end of this week a few notices and reminders.
Book Fair The last day for the Book Fair will be Tuesday 23rd May so if you haven?t managed to get there yet, do pop in after school 3.10 ? 4pm.
Brunel Mrs Turner and Mrs Brocks have organised a bridge building competition on Friday 26th May in the afternoon as part of the celebrations of his bicentenary. We do need lots of newspapers so please do bring in any donations and put them in the collection box in the office.
Sex Education Tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd May, we are holding an Informing Parents evening to let you know about our Sex and Relationships policy and how we deliver the curriculum to the children. If you have been to one of these meetings before (the last one was 2004) don?t feel obliged to come along ? it is mainly for new parents to the school. However, all are welcome. It will be held at 6pm in the school hall.
Greenhouse Our lovely greenhouse is proving to be a bit of a white elephant for us at school and we would like to sell it along with the collapsible staging in the greenhouse. We are inviting interested parties to make us offers (in a sealed envelope handed in at the Office), in excess of £300. The successful bidder will be responsible for dismantling and transporting the greenhouse away.
Mrs Slack Unfortunately, we will not be able to renew Mrs Slack?s contract next academic year so this will be her last term with us. We have greatly appreciated her expertise and thorough approach to teaching the year 2s this year, and the year 4s last year.
Staffing It is with regret that I have accepted Felicity Lothian?s resignation. Felicity has worked alongside a child with ASD and has been instrumental in the fantastic progress he has made in all areas of his learning and social development so far.
Trips Unfortunately, the Year 3 & 4 trip to Teign today for the Striking and Fielding festival has been postponed (again) due to water logged pitch. This will be rescheduled for after Half Term. Similarly the Kwik Cricket for the year 5s will be rearranged. A reminder that swimming for all years 3,4,5 & 6 children will start on the first Tuesday after half term, 6th June, and all children will need a packed lunch. Ruth has asked me to mention also that there are still some consent forms outstanding and payments owing. I know that we have been asking for lots of money lately, but do feel free to come and discuss with us if you wish to pay in instalments (I do!).
Some of the Bowden children are teaming up with some of the children from Dunsford School to be involved in a World Cup football event, organised by the Express and Echo. There will be some practice matches, followed by the real event on 14th June. Look out for the write up in the Express and Echo.
Colours of Africa some of the work that the children did during our recent Arts Week is going to be exhibited at the Children?s Art Aid Exhibition on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th June at Great Moor House, Sowton. Please see the posters in school for further information.
K?nex Challenge The year 5 and 6 children will be involved in a K?nex challenge on Monday 5th June in the school hall. In the past we have done really well in this event so are looking for more success this year ? no pressure! Back to top
