Bridfordstock 2006
At Christow School we have a strong tradition of music and singing. The Choir Club is a favourite and the children have again recently performed at the Devon Schools Mix. Many of the children are learning to play instruments : some within school time and some as an extra curricular activity. On Thursday 29th June the whole school went to the Bridford Woodland Trust to give their annual musical performance to parents and the community. A number of the children have been learning to play their instruments for aseveral years whilst others have only started very recently, but all the children who took part did brilliantly playing in front of a live audience. The Woodland Trust provides a beautiful natural setting where everyone enjoyed watching and listening to our very talented musicians. The performers were: Choir Club who sang a three part harmony sensation 'The grand Old Duke of York' and 'Jellicle' from the musical 'Cats', Poppy who opened the proceedings by playing 'Adante' absolutely wonderfully on the Cello, Megan I. and Lotti who played a guitar duet, Laurie and George who played 'Hot Cross Buns on their guitars, Oliver who shared some notes on his recorder and Adam who played his trumpet even though he has only been learning for two weeks. Jack S. played 'Chorus Up!' on his Clarinet and Megan C. played pieces on both the flute and the piano. Georgie who has only recently joined the school palyed 'Mrs Black cat' on the piano and Harry S. who treated us to '7 Nations's Army' on his electric guitar. Sam and Jamie A. also play electric guitar. They played 'Smoke on the Water' and Jamie also played 'I believe in a thing called love' as a solo. Harrie-Rae played "She'll be coming round the mountains' and Ava played 'Silly Hills' on the piano. Aaron and Liam played 'I walk the lonely road' on their guitars and the whole school performed two songs that they had learnt for the occasion and finally the Year 4 Handchimers played the National Anthem. All the children who performed did brilliantly and we had a very enjoyable afternoon.
