Indian Bangra Dancing
During Arts Week Maggie, a lady who used to live in India came in to teach us some traditional Indian dancing. Hedgemoor, Kennick and Bowden all took part and we all had a great time. We even got to dress up in real Indian clothes that they wear in the village. Maggie even gave us each a bindi (a third eye to see the person inside you) and garlands to greet each other in the traditional way.
Maggie lived in India for quite a long time but she wasn't actually Indian. She had lots of interesting stories to tell about her life in India and the Indian Gods. One particular story was very interesting it was all about how her friend got married at the age of 10.
All in all we had a brilliant time learning lots of different Indian dances including the village dance and the wedding dance. At the end of the day parents came to watch us perform our dances. They were very surprised at what we had achieved in just one day.
